The Collapse of Common Sense: Why America’s Foundations Are Shaking

How we lost our grip on truth, logic, and moral clarity—and what it’ll take to rebuild before it’s too late.

What happened to common sense?
It used to be the backbone of our country. A dad raised his son to work hard, tell the truth, defend his family, and respect his neighbor. A mom taught her daughter to pray, think for herself, and stand up for what’s right. We didn’t need endless experts or political think tanks to explain that men are men, women are women, babies are human, and freedom means personal responsibility—not entitlement.
But now?
We live in a time where truth is offensive, logic is hate speech, and basic decency is called "oppression." It’s not that people don’t know right from wrong anymore—it’s that they’ve been trained to ignore it. We've traded wisdom for ideology, and reality for feelings. The result? America is trembling at the foundation.
A Nation Built on Self-Evident Truths
Let’s be clear: America wasn’t founded on moral confusion or government dependency. The Founders didn’t risk their lives for a nation where children are taught they can change their gender before they can legally drive, or where the government punishes success and rewards laziness.
This country was built on self-evident truths—meaning truths so obvious, they didn’t need to be proven. God created us equal, gave us rights no man can take away, and expected us to live as free people under His authority, not the tyranny of the state or the mob.
But those foundations only hold when the people believe in truth, accept personal responsibility, and honor the natural law. And that’s what we’re watching collapse.
When Logic Dies, Tyranny Rises
When a society abandons common sense, it doesn't float into utopia—it falls into chaos. And where chaos grows, control follows. You can already see it:
· Schools hide “gender transitions” from parents but punish kids for misgendering someone.
· Churches water down the Gospel to be “inclusive” while the culture becomes more godless.
· Politicians tell you inflation is “transitory,” crime is down, and the border is secure—as your paycheck shrinks, your streets rot, and cities get overrun.
· Law-abiding citizens are demonized for owning guns, while violent criminals get slaps on the wrist.
None of it makes sense. And that’s the point. Insanity is a feature, not a bug, when the goal is submission. You can’t enslave people who think clearly. You can’t control people who believe in truth. So first, you erase the truth—and replace it with confusion.
Why the Collapse Feels Spiritual
This isn’t just political. It’s spiritual.
Romans 1 warns us what happens when a nation exchanges the truth of God for a lie. Minds become darkened. Right becomes wrong. And eventually, God gives that culture over to its own destruction. Sound familiar?
That’s why so many people feel like strangers in their own country. It’s not just the politics. It’s not just the economy. It’s the slow decay of moral sanity.
We are living in a time when evil is paraded as progress, while virtue is mocked as outdated or even bigoted. And unless people of faith and conviction stand up, speak out, and rebuild from the ground up, America as we know it won’t make it another generation.
What We Can Still Do
Here’s the good news: It’s not over yet.
The collapse of common sense isn’t just a threat—it’s also a wake-up call. This is where the remnant rises. This is where strong families matter. This is where men return to their role as protectors and providers. Where women raise warriors, not victims. Where the church stops entertaining and starts preaching repentance again.
And this is where bold citizens refuse to be silent. Not violent. Not reckless. But firm, loud, and unashamed of the truth.
You want to fix America? Start in your home. Pray with your kids. Speak truth even if it costs you. Work hard, live free, and teach the next generation that truth doesn’t change just because culture does.
Because in the end, common sense isn’t dead—it’s just been suppressed. And if we have the courage to bring it back, brick by brick, family by family, we can rebuild what’s been lost.
